LC/UPC uniboot – LC/UPC uniboot Singlemode OS2 9/125 G657A1 Round cable 2.0mm OFNR Yellow from Red Cable Technology (RCT) is a Shaxon data-center patch cord that puts high-quality LC uniboot connectors on both ends of 9/125 OS2 singlemode fiber, all inside a rugged yellow 2.0mm round OFNR jacket. The slim two-fiber round cable takes up less room for superior airflow and easier cable management.
Features & Specs:
- LC/UPC uniboot to LC/UPC uniboot duplex patch cord, 9/125 singlemode OS2, G.657A1
- Rugged yellow 2.0mm round jacket, OFNR rated
- High-quality LC uniboot connectors — the small-form-factor (SFF) “little connector,” highly popular in single-mode networks for good performance and small size; 1.25mm ferrule, about half the size of an SC connector; designed to join LC fibers wherever a connection or disconnection is required
- Cable polarity can easily be changed, and polarity is clearly marked with a green designator on one of the connectors
- Simplex round two-fiber 2mm cable takes up less room, allowing for superior air flow and easier cable management — popular in data center applications
- Single-mode performance: a greater transmission rate and nearly 50 times the distance of multi-mode fiber, at a higher price — the core-size difference is what drives the gap in loss/attenuation and bandwidth
- Bend-insensitive OS2 (ITU-T G.657A1) SMF for longer reach with enhanced link performance
Where singlemode fits
Multi-mode fiber is typically cost effective for inside buildings or corporate campuses, while single-mode is better suited for longer distance runs. Single-mode fiber can transmit over greater distances but typically requires more expensive equipment. For other ultra-long-distance transmissions that employ exclusively C-band and L-band with optical amplifiers, refer to the ITU-T recommendations for the most appropriate SMF types. When weighing on-premises and access network fiber replacement or new installation, we highly recommend replacing legacy OS1 with a new bend-insensitive OS2 (ITU-T G.657A1) SMF cabling system to support longer reach with enhanced link performance.
About the standards behind it
The International Telecommunication Union (ITU) is the United Nations specialized agency for information and communication technologies — ICTs. Founded in 1865 to facilitate international connectivity in communications networks, it allocates global radio spectrum and satellite orbits, develops the technical standards that ensure networks and technologies seamlessly interconnect, and strives to improve access to ICTs for underserved communities worldwide.
