Pigtail LC/UPC 12 Colors OM3 0.9 mm OFNR 3M, Semitight from Red Cable Technology (RCT) is a 12-color pigtail set on laser-optimized OM3 50/125 µm multi-mode fiber, made for terminating fiber optic cables through fusion or mechanical splicing. Each leg runs 3 meters of 0.9 mm OFNR-jacketed fiber into an LC/UPC connector — a quality pigtail plus correct fusion splicing delivers the best termination performance possible. They land exactly where you’d expect: ODFs, fiber terminal boxes, and distribution boxes.
Features & Specs:
- 12 color-coded LC/UPC pigtails; LC is popular in single-mode networks for good performance and small size — the 1.25 mm ferrule is roughly half of an SC (the “little connector”); an SFF connector for joining LC fibers wherever connection or disconnection is needed
- OM3: 50 µm core like OM2, optimized for laser-based equipment using fewer modes of light — 10 Gigabit Ethernet up to 300 meters; improved production extends it to 40/100 GbE up to 100 meters; 10 GbE is its most common use
- Laser-optimized multi-mode fiber (LOMMF) designed for 850 nm VCSELs; refined manufacturing has pushed some cables to 10 GbE up to 400 meters
- UPC connectors are polished with no angle (slight curvature for better core alignment); UPC connectors are blue, APC are green
- 0.9 mm buffered fiber, OFNR jacket, 3 m, strippable (semitight) buffer: gap not visible under 100 power magnification, no loose powder/liquid interstitial material, 10 cm strips off with one circular cut
## Where OM3 shines
OM3 is the workhorse for short-reach laser links — data center rows and campus runs wanting 10 GbE to 300 meters (or 40/100 GbE inside 100 meters) over cost-effective multi-mode.
